A year in review…

Greetings Space Cadets,

Now that we have completed an orbit around the sun I would like to share some of the highlights that happened on our journey.

Week one we were able to discover two beautiful coffees from Colombia and two from Indonesia. We still have traces of the Flores and Capitan Black available but will sell out soon. With that being  said we have discovered two new coffees from Colombia. The La Riviera Estate and the La Maria which are wonderful traditional washed processed coffees from two very talented producers.

In the following weeks we were able to extend our journey into the evening and even partook in some cosmic celebrations including live music and art at our Vista location. We hosted bands like Los Paisanos, Los Discos, Feliz and also a Silent Disco with some talented DJ’s. There are still extensions of our artist community in the Vista Shop available for purchase. We also have a local library with some really cool vintage sci-fi available to read and for purchase. As we continue our search for creativity and innovation our goal is to promote our local artists, musicians and creatives. Follow our social media pages for updates and opportunities to take part in our cosmic community events.

Later in the year we were able to participate in the US Coffee Championships. Our good friend Lynn competed using the Flores Kartika coffee and made it to the US Barista Finals in Rancho Cucamonga. They did an amazing job using a coffee from Indonesia that was so complex. Louis was able to place in the US Coffee and Good Spirits Finals during the SCA Expo in Chicago using the Creativa Decaf that is available online and in the shop. Competition has become important to us on this journey because we are able to make our selves vulnerable to judgement by industry leaders and validate what we are doing, and also provide great feedback on how to better ourselves. As coffee roasters what we put out becomes very personal and often times we have to admit that we can better our skill. There is really no room for ego because we are just trying to highlight what the producers were able to accomplish by growing our coffee and processing it.

As the year progressed, we also decided to extend our cosmic reach by offering select coffees in local grocery stores in San Diego, along with opening our first satellite location in Sabre Springs. You can purchase Cosmic Bloom in all Frazier Farms locations and growing. We decided to showcase our La Riviera Estate and our Creativa Coffee District decaf. Both coffees are approachable yet have a distinct profile that best represents our brand. The opportunity to open the satellite location was one that we could not pass by. There was a need for coffee in a business district where we opened and all of the pieces just kind of fell together. Another example of how this cosmic universe has placed all of the steps in front of us. We have been fortunate enough to have things come together like this for us.

The year has been good to us. Our community has been supportive, and we could not be more grateful. We think and talk about our regulars all the time and often worry about where they are if we don’t see them in the shop. This cosmic journey has really taken us for a wild trip and we are eager and excited to see what the future holds. We would like to thank you for being a part of this journey with us, and to show our appreciation you can use SPACECOWBOY at checkout to receive 15% off on your next order! Valid until June 17th.

See You Space Cowboy…
